Meet us at 37th International Conference on Coastal Engineering - ICCE 2022 in Sydney
This week, Dr Alexis Berthot, MetOcean Solutions’ Marine Project Consultancy Manager and Physical Oceanographer Dr Mariana Cussioli are attending the 37th International Conference on Coastal Engineering. Running from 4-9 December in Sydney, Australia, the conference is a biennial event to promote academic and technical exchange on coastal related studies. This year's theme is The Present State of the Art and Science of Coastal Engineering.
Both Alexis and Mariana were part of the team led by Advisian Pty (Worley Group) that, together with Eastland Port, developed a study on the method applied to quantify the generation and dispersal of construction-generated fine sediments.
Fine sediments that are bound to rock fill can be released into water during construction of coastal structures. However, there is little information available to quantify the amount of sediment released to set up numerical model simulations. The method developed by the project team provided more realistic values for the modelling and generated better outcomes - our preliminary model runs, using estimate rate based on a dredger production rate, generated relatively conservative results compared to the simulations using the values derived in this study.
The key findings of this study will be presented at the conference by Christopher Adamantidis, Principal Coastal Engineer at Advisian Pty, on the talk “Estimating sediment generation from rock construction works”, under the session Structure and Sediment Interactions on the afternoon of 8 December.
MetOcean Solutions is excited to be part of such an important event in the international coastal engineering calendar. Read more about the conference at https://icce2022.com/
