2023 Celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Last weekend, MetOcean Solutions’ organised an open Q&A session about Ocean Science at Ngarunui Beach, Raglan to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

The event was open for everyone to chat with some of MetOcean’s scientists – Julie Jakoboski, Mariana Cussioli, Stine Sorensen and Mariana Horigome - about our moana, what means to be an ocean scientist and what they love about their jobs.

We would like to thank everyone involved for supporting the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Special thank you to Surf Dames, a local surf group focused on creating space for wāhine surfers.

The United Nations General Assembly declared 11 February as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science in 2015 to support full and equal access and participation for women in science. This year’s focus is on the role of Women and Girls and Science relating to the Sustainable Development Goals. Read more at https://www.un.org/en/observances/women-and-girls-in-science-day/
